New Jersey Department of Agriculture and New Jersey Department of State’s Division of Travel and Tourism Approves $5M in Grants to 72 Businesses Under The New Jersey Agritourism Grant Program (NJATP)
(TRENTON) – The New Jersey Department of Agriculture (NJDA), in partnership with the New Jersey Division of Travel and Tourism (NJTT) within the New Jersey Department of State, recently approved $5 million in grant awards to 72 organizations under the New Jersey Agritourism Grant Program (NJATP). The awards kick off the inaugural year of the program, providing one of the largest investments in recent years dedicated to strengthening our State’s agricultural and tourism industries.
“I am honored to recognize the 72 grant recipients this inaugural year of the New Jersey Agritourism Grant Program, reaffirming the Garden State’s commitment to advancing a vital and growing segment of the tourism economy,” said Lt. Governor Dr. Dale Caldwell who oversees NJTT in his capacity as Secretary of State. “The $5 million in grant awards will strengthen agritourism businesses across the state, and together with our partners at the N.J. Department of Agriculture, we’re excited to build on this tremendous momentum to expand the immersive experiences they offer to residents and visitors alike."
“Agritourism is a growing component of New Jersey Agriculture and vital to the sustainability of operations that are connecting people and the food that is produced here in the Garden State," said New Jersey Secretary of Agriculture Ed Wengryn. "By working with Travel and Tourism to award these funds, we connect New Jersey’s agriculture businesses with the economic power of New Jersey tourism, help farms, welcome new visitors, educate the community on the versatility of New Jersey agriculture, and drive economic growth."
Awardees under the NJATP will receive awards of up to $100,000, with funding awarded to support activities that link agricultural production or agricultural processing with tourism to attract visitors onto a farm, ranch, winery, brewery, or other agricultural business for the purpose of entertaining or educating the visitors.
A full breakdown of awards can be found on the Department of Agriculture’s NJATP program website here.
