Course Description

Classification and compensation are two critical components of employment administration in New Jersey State government. The classification system and operations of compensation may impact employees in NJ Civil Service. “How are jobs classified?” and “what determines a pay rate?” are two essential questions. This one-day course is designed to focus on critical topics essential for understanding various human resource facets within the areas of classification and compensation.  

 

Learning Objectives:

  • Determine how certain elements of NJSA 11A and NJAC 4A shape the general functions and inner workings of classification and compensation
  • Recognize the various criteria used in the classification of titles
  • Review the position classification process
  • Analyze the components of the DPF-44S form and examine common errors made by individuals who complete it
  • Review and discuss compensation methods and compensable elements
