The DCF Regional School Union Campus is an alternative secondary school designed to meet the ever-increasing needs of at-risk youth. This school will enroll those individuals from 9th through 12th grade who want a second chance to complete their education, and in turn earn a high school diploma. We offer a wide variety of supplemental and support services. Transportation, breakfast and lunch are provided for each student. An Individualized Program Plan (IPP) or an Individual Education Plan (IEP) will be developed for each student. Successful completion of a transitional plan may include career planning, college preparation, or job readiness skills. Through our educational interventions we hope to enhance student’s work ethics, to assist them in securing a high school diploma, and to help provide a sense of personal direction.
The Nurtured Heart Approach
The Nurtured Heart Approach consists of a set of strategies that assist children and adults in further developing self-regulation and has been found to be effective with individuals of all ages. It focuses on transforming the way someone perceives themselves, and the world around them. Individuals learn to understand that they will receive endless amounts of praise, energy, recognition and reward through the positive behavior they display, and this supports building a positive portfolio of themselves, which is referred to as “Inner Wealth™.” Promising Path to Success 2.0 Grant is supporting us in integrating this approach with staff and families.
Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) Team
