Brendon T. Byrne State Forest
SUCCESS at Brendan T. Byrne State Forest! On Saturday, March 14, 2015, NJ Watershed Ambassador Nina Odunlami led a group of volunteers in cleaning up dumpsites in Brendan T. Byrnes State Forest. The team filled a 20 cubic yard dumpster and collected 10 tires. A special thanks to our dedicated team of volunteers and to Republic Services for the kind donation of the dumpster and garbage removal!
Whitesbog Village and Brendon T. Byrne State Forest
SUCCESS at Whitesbog and Brendon T. Byrne State Forest!!!
On October 26th, over 100 tires and three-30 cubic yard dumpsters of debris were removed from Whitesbog and Brendon T. Byrne State Forest. Dumpsters were donated by American Disposal, Inc. and Woolston Disposal Service. The Burlington County Clean Communities Office and the NJ Clean Communities offered support with disposal fees and supplies. A great showing of 220 volunteers including 32 youth, the “Grass Roots” Jeep Club and “Iron in the Pines” Jeep Club were out in force!
Wharton State Forest
SUCCESS at Wharton State Forest! On September 26, 2014, Commissioner Bob Martin (pictured right) joined volunteers to cleanup an illegal dump site at Wharton State Forest. Thirty cubic yards of materials were cleaned up from a site near Batsto Village and a few other illegal dumpsites in the Park. Volunteers including Batsto Citizens Committee, Waterford Environmental Commission, Volunteers of Wharton State Forest, the Outdoors Club of South Jersey, Jersey off-Road Bicycle Association and the NJ Watershed Ambassadors. A special thanks to Waste Management for donating the dumpster and offering support with the removal fees!
Greenwood Forest
SUCCESS in Greenwood Forest!!! On August 23, 2014 Ocean County Department of Corrections, Work Crew Unit completed a four-hour cleanup of Greenwood Forest. They covered over five miles and collected 51 bags of trash, several tires and many pieces of construction debris. They also removed eleven wooden pallets and a five-gallon gas can that was being used for bonfires in an area vulnerable to forest fires.
Wharton State Forest
SUCCESS at Wharton!! Over 60 cubic yards of illegally dumped materials have been removed from Wharton State Forest! A great group of community volunteers led by the NJ Watershed Ambassador Steve Luell and Park Superintendent Rob Auermuller cleared 2 huge dumpsters and three additional piles of trash (including one HUGE pile of shingles)! A gift of good karma came when a local resident drove past us, saw what we were doing “in his backyard” and came back with his skid loader to finish the job!

Byrne State Forest
SUCCESS at Brendan Byrne! On March 13th and March 15th 2014, 64 cubic yards of illegally dumped materials have been successfully removed from Brendan T. Byrne State Forest! A great group of about 60 volunteers from the NJ Jeep Association, Fort Dix and local community residents were led by Watershed Ambassador Geoff Richter and Park Superintendent Leigh Germann. Volunteers cleared 149 tires, part of a boat, and 2 full dumpster worth of debris!
Bass River State Forest
SUCCESS at Bass River! On March 16th 2014, 30 cubic yards of illegally dumped materials were successfully removed from Bass River State Forest! Led by Watershed Ambassador Steve Luell and Park Superintendent Cynthia Coritz, a great group of community volunteers cleared all types of illegally dumped debris and over 75 tires from Bass River State Forest filling 10 Bagsters.
