Psychological First Aid (PFA) is an early intervention which is typically implemented immediately during the first hours and days of a disaster or crisis event.  It is intended to minimize the distress and negative behaviors that can increase fear and anxiety.  The primary objective of PFA is to promote an environment of safety, calm and connectedness, empowerment and hope.
