Commissioner Shelley Levitan Adler joined the NJ Motion Picture and Television Commission in 2004. She is a graduate of Harvard Law School and practiced law in a large Philadelphia law firm for 11 years following a federal clerkship. Since that time, she has held other legal positions, served as a Township Councilwoman, ran for Congress, and is now an in-house counsel at a large national mortgage company. She was an integral part of the passage of the first NJ Film Tax Credit legislation. Her interest in television and film production arises from having a number of family members who are involved in the television business, including her son who does production work on a network television drama and her brother who is a major show runner. Commissioner Adler lives in Cherry Hill and is very involved in promoting South Jersey as a film and television production destination.
