The Governor’s Hispanic Fellows Internship Program is a magnet for top-tier students that are passionate about diversity and inclusion, offering them a unique pathway to master the essential skills for thriving in today's dynamic professional landscape.

Fellows receive coaching in various skills, including polished written communication, strategic negotiation, compelling public speaking, organization and time management, professional etiquette, giving and receiving feedback, and more.

The program blends hands-on, practical experience with traditional classroom instruction. Participants benefit from inspiring guest presentations by industry leaders and a host of other distinctive skill-building opportunities that set this fellowship apart.

Ultimately, the Governor’s Hispanic Fellows Internship Program not only boosts workplace readiness but also equips Latin@ students with the critical tools they need to excel as professionals in the ever-evolving 21st century economy.

What Can You Expect?

Participating in the Governor's Hispanic Fellows Internship Program offers college students a wealth of opportunities for personal and professional growth. Students can expect to gain hands-on experience in their chosen field, which enhances their resumes and prepares them for future career opportunities by working with industry leaders, government officials and non-profits, amongst others. The program also fosters skill development in areas such as communication, teamwork, and leadership, essential for any career path. Additionally, fellows benefit from networking opportunities, connecting with mentors and peers who can provide valuable career guidance.

A stipend is provided at the end of the program.

Program Requirements

We welcome applications from students who are:

  • Resident of New Jersey
  • Of Hispanic descent
  • Enrolled in a 2 or 4 year college or university program

Why become a placement site?

By becoming a placement site, organizations gain access to a diverse pool of talented and motivated interns who bring fresh perspectives and innovative ideas to their teams. Additionally, hosting interns provides staff with opportunities to develop their leadership and mentoring skills, enhancing overall team dynamics. Participating as a host site also supports organizations diversity and inclusion initiatives and contributes positively to the professional development of Hispanic youth.

The program also serves as an effective recruitment tool, allowing organizations to evaluate potential future employees in a real-world setting.
