Speed Limits For State Roads

Route US 1 & 9 Truck
(a) The rate of speed designated for the certain parts of State Highway Route US 1&9 Truck described in this section are hereby established and adopted as the maximum rate of speed:
1. In Essex County
i. In the City of Newark:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 50 MPH from the westerly terminus of Route US 1&9 Truck to the City of Newark – Town of Kearny corporate line (approximate mileposts 0.00 to 0.67); thence
2. In Hudson County
i. In the Town of Kearny:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 50 MPH between the City of Newark – Town of Kearny corporate line and the Town of Kearny – Jersey City corporate line (approximate mileposts 0.67 to 1.72); thence
ii. In the City of Jersey City:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 50 MPH between the Town of Kearny – Jersey City corporate line and the intersection of Route NJ 440 (approximate mileposts 1.72 to 2.27); thence
(B) Zone 2: 40 MPH between the intersection of Route NJ 440 and a point 300 feet south of the intersection of Broadway (approximate mileposts 2.27 to 3.46); thence
(C) Zone 3: 30 MPH between a point 300 feet south of the intersection of Broadway and the northerly terminus of the route at the intersection of Route US 1&9 at Tonnele Avenue (approximate mileposts 3.46 to 4.11); thence
(2) For the southbound local ramp:
(A) 35 MPH from its intersection with Route US 1&9 Truck for a distance of approximately 850 feet to the P.T. of the 270 foot radius curve. (Stations 30 and 63 to Stations 30 and 80; Plans Route US 1&9 Truck Section 1 - Sheet 6.)
