Speed Limits For State Roads

Route NJ 5
(a) The rate of speed designated for the certain parts of State Highway Route NJ 5 described in this section are hereby established and adopted as the maximum legal rate of speed:
1. In Bergen County:
i. In the Borough of Ridgefield:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 30 MPH between Route US 1&9 (North Broad Avenue) and the Ridgefield Borough-Palisades Park Borough corporate line (approximate mileposts 0.0 to 0.22); thence
ii. In the Borough of Palisades Park:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 30 MPH between the Ridgefield Borough-Palisades Park Borough corporate line and Abbott Avenue (approximate mileposts 0.22 to 0.32); thence
(B) Zone 2: 40 MPH between Abbott Avenue and the Palisades Park Borough-Fort Lee Borough corporate line (Route NJ 63) (approximate mileposts 0.32 to 0.92); thence
iii. In the Borough of Fort Lee:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 30 MPH between the Palisades Park Borough-Fort Lee Borough corporate line (Route NJ 63) and 100 feet west of Cumbermeade Road, except for 25 MPH when passing through the Public School No. 4 school zone when the presence of children is clearly visible from the roadway or while children are going to or leaving school, during opening or closing hours (approximate mileposts 0.92 to 1.72); thence
(B) Zone 2: 35 MPH between 100 feet west of Cumbermeade Road and Bluff Road (approximate mileposts 1.72 to 2.10); thence
(C) Zone 3: 30 MPH between Bluff Road and the Fort Lee Borough-Edgewater Borough corporate line (approximate mileposts 2.10 to 2.37); thence
iv. In the Borough of Edgewater:
(1) For both directions of traffic:
(A) Zone 1: 30 MPH between the Fort Lee Borough-Edgewater Borough corporate line and 158 feet west of River Road (County Route 505) (approximate mileposts 2.37 to 3.15).
NOTE: State Highway Route NJ 5 is under county (Bergen County) jurisdiction from approximate mileposts 3.15 to 3.18 (end of route).
