Cherry Hill and Mount Laurel Townships

(click on thumbnail photos to enlarge in bottom window)

June 2003

This piece of equipment known as a rubbilization machine breaks up concrete roads and turns them into rubble. It uses a series of drop hammers weighing about 1,100 pounds each to break the concrete road, a process known as rubbilization.

The activity is being performed on a one-mile section of I-295 between Routes 561 and 70.

This is the left lane of I-295 Northbound after it was rubbilized. Approximately 13" of asphalt pavement will be placed over the rubbilized area.
