Welcome and introduction by Terri Smith, Brownfield
Coordinator for NJDEP

Discussion of the minutes from the June 5, 2000 meeting

Discussion of the National Brownfield Conference which
was held in October 2000 in Atlantic City
-
Martha Sapp of the Green Acres Program gave a presentation
of the Green Acres Program and its overall coordination
with the Brownfield program. For additional information
on the Green Acres Program the website address is: www.nj.gov/dep/greenacres.

Alan Gelfand of the USHUD program discussed the Brownfield
Economic Development Initiative (BEDI). (Fact Sheet
attached) Mr. Gelfand discussed the $25 million program
funding in fiscal year 2001. A discussion the Jersey
City BEDI grant implementation was given by Douglas
Greenfeld (fact sheet attached). Additional info on
the Jersey City initiative can be obtained from Mr.

Mark Portnoy discussed the BEDI grant undertaken by
the town of Phillipsburg. He identified William Lowenstein
(NJEDA contact) as being instrumental in the success
of the Phillipsburg BEDI grant program.

Rose Smith and Raymond Fischer of New Jersey Economic
Development Authority discussed the funding opportunities
available. Additional information on the NJEDA programs
is available at www.njeda.com.

Robert V. Colangelo and Richard Scotoni from the National
Brownfield Association discussed Mid-Atlantic Deal Flow
Conference scheduled for February 7, 2001 at the Hyatt
Regency Penn's Landing, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The New Jersey and Pennsylvania Department's of Environmental
Protection are sponsoring this event. All of the EPA
pilot grant recipients were encouraged to use the event
to market the brownfield sites available in their municipalities.
Submission of the completed property checklist are to
be submitted to Terri Smith by December 22, 2000.

Terri Smith and Nicole Destin discussed the Office
of State Planning request for information on sites for
the marketing database and encourage the municipalities
participation in the completion of the OSP forms.

Terri Smith discussed the DEP brownfield website that
locates brownfield sites on a GIS based database. The
Brownfield website address is located at www.njgeodata4.state.nj.us/i-map/brownfields
