6. Submitting Data to SRP
5.
Downloading SRP-EDI and EDSA
Q:
|
Must the files
I send to SRP be Zipped?
|
A:
|
No, it is not mandatory that
these files are zipped. However zipping the
files is preferred if the dataset is larger
than one diskette. For larger files, PKZIP and
WINZIP use a common format that allows compression
to less than half of the original size allowing
files to fit on less diskette space.
As noted above, when ZIP files
are used, they should be named using the Directory
Name from the DTST file.
Note: "Zip" in this FAQ refers
to the file compression format developed by
PKWare, not to the cartridge storage system
(e.g.; ZIP Drives) developed by Iomega. The
SRP does not have the facilities to handle data
on ZIP cartridges.
See more info about Zip files
on the File Formats Help
page.

Q:
|
The SRP-EDI
states data may be submitted via diskette or
the Department's Bulletin Board System. May
I email the data to the case manager?
|
A:
|
SRP is awaiting resolution
of an issue related to verification of the digital
data if received via email. For now this issue
is on hold.
|
Q:
|
May I submit
more than one dataset for a site on one diskette?
|
A:
|
If and only if the datasets
are for the same site, yes. However the individual
datasets must either be zipped or put in separate
subdirectories, so SRP can distinguish between
same-named files. There should be as many subdirectories
as there are datasets. The subdirectory name
should be the same as that used in the DIRECTORY
field in the DTST file.
|
Q:
|
May I submit
datasets for different sites on the same diskette?
|
A:
|
No. The diskette needs to accompany
the hard copy so that SRP can deem the entire
package complete.
