[SRRA]: NJDEP Site Remediation & Waste Management Program Announces the Availability of Revised Instructions for the New Jersey Johnson & Ettinger (J&E) Spreadsheets Used in the Development of Alternative Ground Water Screening Levels (GWSL) for the Vapor Intrusion (VI) Pathway The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (Department) Site Remediation & Waste Management Program announces the availability of revised instructions for the New Jersey Johnson & Ettinger (J&E) spreadsheets used in the development of alternative ground water screening levels (GWSL) for the vapor intrusion (VI) pathway on the Department's VI website. Alternative screening levels used in the evaluation of the pathway can be developed based on site-specific factors. The updated instructions include the option to incorporate site-specific soil texture and depth to ground water in the spreadsheets as part of the generation of alternative GWSL. The updated Instructions for the New Jersey Johnson & Ettinger Spreadsheets NJ-GW-SCREEN and NJ-GW-ADV are available at the main Vapor Intrusion Pathway web page at www.nj.gov/dep/srp/guidance/vaporintrusion/. Note: Technical guidance may be used immediately upon issuance. However, the Department recognizes the challenge of using newly issued or revised technical guidance when a remediation affected by the guidance may have already been conducted or is currently in progress. To provide for the reasonable implementation of new or revised technical guidance, the Department will allow a 6-month "phase-in" period between the date the technical guidance is issued and the time it should be used. |
