Subject | [SRRA]: Board Update regarding License Renewals and CECs |
[SRRA]: Board Update regarding License Renewals and CECs The Site Remediation Professional Licensing Board (the Board) provides the following information regarding recent operational changes and impacts to upcoming LSRP license renewals and courses approved for continuing education credits (CECs). 1) Renewals potentially impacted by cancelled courses. The Board has been made aware that some previously approved in-person courses have been cancelled by the course provider. Some LSRPs were relying on such courses to meet the CEC renewal requirements, including completion of 36 CECs by the renewal application due date, which is 90 days prior to license expiration. The Board is encouraging LSRPs to try to meet the timeframes for submittal of their complete renewal application by taking any of the Board-approved online courses listed on the table found on the Board website at https://www.nj.gov/lsrpboard/board/education/. If this is not possible, the LSRP should still submit a renewal application on time and contact the Board at SRPLBoardContact@dep.nj.gov to make other arrangements. The Board does not intend to impact the status of an LSRP's license due to current events, so consideration will be given. Due to the limited number of potential LSRPs that the Board may need to accommodate, at this time the Board has determined that there is no need for a blanket extension of LSRP license expiration dates. 2) Can courses approved for in-person CECs be offered in an online format? Several course providers have contacted the Board to ask this question on behalf of LSRPs. If a provider feels a course previously approved in an in-person format can be successfully provided in an online format, the Board has advises course providers to submit a revised CEC application for approval by the Board. The CEC application reviews will be expedited to the extent possible to try to limit the impact on LSRPs that planned to take those courses for licenses that expire before August 2020. Depending on how long social distancing requirements are in place, the Board will consider procedural changes to expedite conversion of approved in-person CECs to online, or changes to other renewal requirements if indicated.
