The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) Site Remediation and Waste Management Program (SRWMP) is pleased to announce the posting of courtesy copies of remediation standards comparison tables for the Remediation Standards at N.J.A.C. 7:26D. These tables compare the existing (May 2021) remediation standards for soil, soil leachate, and indoor air to the former (pre-May 2021) standards and screening criteria/levels, including a summary of standards that have increased, decreased, remained the same, or have been added or deleted.

Comparison tables include:

  • Soil remediation standards for the ingestion-dermal and inhalation exposure pathways compared to the former direct contact soil remediation standards/criteria from 1999, 2008, and 2017;
  • Soil and soil leachate standards for the migration to ground water exposure pathway compared to the former soil and soil leachate criteria from 2013;
  • Indoor air standards for the vapor intrusion exposure pathway compared to the former screening levels from 2007 and 2013; and
  • The existing standards are also provided in tables grouped by chemical fraction

The comparison tables are available on the Remediation Standards webpage at https://www.nj.gov/dep/srp/guidance/rs/. It should be noted that these tables are courtesy copies and if there are any discrepancies between the values in these tables and the official version of the rule, the official version of the rule will govern. Official copies of the Department's rules are compiled in title 7 of the New Jersey Administrative Code.
