[EXTERNAL]: NJDOH's Potential Health Risks Associated with Exposures to Trichloroethylene in the Indoor Air fact sheet

This message serves as an update to the February 21, 2023 message issued by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.

The New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) has a fact sheet entitled, "Potential Health Risks Associated with Exposures to Trichloroethylene (TCE) in the Indoor Air" available at: www.nj.gov/health/ceohs/documents/tce_factsheet.pdf. This fact sheet, published in 2016, provides general information on TCE and describes potential health impacts on a developing fetus in the first trimester of pregnancy. Given the short, critical window of time when TCE can impact fetal heart development, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection recommends that this fact sheet be provided to occupants of buildings when a Licensed Site Remediation Professional determines that vapor intrusion sampling is needed for TCE.

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection is dedicated to protecting New Jersey's environment and public health. The agency prioritizes addressing climate change, protecting New Jersey's water, revitalizing its communities and managing and promoting its natural and historic resources.
