The DRBC is seeking a graduate-level intern to work with a cross-sectional team to implement Phase 2 of the Water Resources Resilience Plan (WRRP), which is focused on advancing resilience of the Delaware River Basin's water resources to climate change impacts.
→ Specific job duties will be tailored to candidates' interests and experience, and may include:
· Quantitative analysis of climate model output and other data to evaluate potential impacts to Basin water resources
· Preparing maps and other data visualizations
· Literature review of other climate planning efforts relevant to the Basin
· Assistance planning and executing stakeholder engagement
→ Internship Details:
- An undergraduate degree in environmental science, planning or a related field is required for this position. Applicants with the following experience and skills are encouraged to apply:
- Coursework relating to water resources, hydrology, climate science, environmental studies and/or planning. A relevant senior thesis or in-progress graduate research project is a plus.
- Strong technical writing skills and ability to read and summarize technical reports.
- Experience working with geospatial data in Microsoft Excel, Python, R, ArcGIS or other similar tools.
- Coursework relating to water resources, hydrology, climate science, environmental studies and/or planning. A relevant senior thesis or in-progress graduate research project is a plus.
- The paid internship is available for 37.5 hours/week, May through September 2026.
- The internship is a hybrid position where in-person attendance at our office in West Trenton, N.J., is required on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Working remotely is an option on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays.

DRBC is seeking an undergraduate-level intern to work in the Water Resource Planning Section to help the Commission manage, process and migrate data between regulatory databases. The Commission has recently undertaken a project to develop an online permitting system and database for its regulatory approvals (e.g. water withdrawal, discharge). Most historical data is still contained within a local database and will require detailed management to facilitate migration to the new online interface.
→ Specific job duties include:
- Extensive data management
- Review of existing/historical regulatory approvals
- Testing of functionality in the new program
- Computational programming (as appropriate)
- Data querying (as appropriate)

- The selected intern will learn about data collected and managed at an environmental regulatory agency (at DRBC, our focus is water), as well as associated regulatory workflows, and will enhance their own data manipulation skills.

DRBC is seeking an undergraduate-level intern to work in the Water Resource Planning Section to help improve data analysis capabilities and long-term water supply planning efforts.
→ Specific job duties include:
- Researching and evaluating water withdrawal data, reservoir releases and construction history
- Compiling locational data for permits and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) analyses
- Conduct GIS analyses to support the evaluation of groundwater availability

The DRBC is seeking one (1) seasonal intern to support its Science and Water Quality mission. This part-time to full-time paid position provides excellent hands-on experience and on-the-job training with senior staff across a variety of environmental science and water quality management skills.

- Environmental sample collection in the field anywhere within the Delaware River Basin
- Water quality monitoring (including potential overnight stays for fieldwork)
- Water quality meter calibration
- Field preparation and sample processing
- Chain-of-custody procedures and sample maintenance
- Data review, QA/QC, and assessment
→ Internship Requirements:
- Must be a college student or recent graduate in a science or engineering curriculum related to an environmental or water resources field
- Must have flexible availability
- Must have driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation for office and field
- Must have computer at home with internet for some remote work as needed
- Must be capable of performing manual work in challenging field environments, including:
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must be able to swim
- Must be comfortable in and around water
- Boat operator experience or certification is a plus
- Must have experience in Excel; data analysis using R or Python is a plus
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- The paid internship is available part-time to full-time, May through September 2026
- Minimum pay is $16.00/hour, possibly more with experience
