Key Highlights
• The Delaware River Basin experienced overall below normal precipitation, with significant deficits seen in the Lehigh Valley and New Jersey.
• Widespread dry conditions developed in late summer and fall, leading to drought watches in Pennsylvania and New York and a statewide drought warning in New Jersey by year's end.
• Groundwater levels varied across the Basin. By year's end, wells in New York and Delaware were in the normal range. Pennsylvania wells ended the year in drought watch, and New Jersey wells ended the year in drought warning.
• The salt front was between RM 55 and RM 70 for much of the year until late October, when low flows pushed it upstream to RM 90. It reached a maximum of RM 90.7 on October 30, before rainfall and directed releases pushed it back downstream to RM 75 by the end of the year.
