Purpose:

This Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) grant focuses on the SkillsUSA CTSO. SkillsUSA is a student organization, with chapters throughout New Jersey, that is focused on students preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations. Participating students, through their local chapter, learn and practice leadership development, academic and technical skills and community involvement. Through this NGO, the successful grantee will provide statewide coordination and leadership in the development, management and administration of CTSO co-curricular activities, competitive events, award programs, student leadership activities and professional development for teachers and advisors. CTSO activities are aligned to New Jersey Student Learning Standards and industry standards.

This CTSO program is a continuation grant, open to The Somerset County Vocational School District, the grantee awarded through a competitive process in Year 1. This NGO covers the fourth year of a four-year grant cycle. Based on the availability of state resources, this fourth year of the grant program will begin October 1, 2020 and end on August 31, 2021.
