The Certified Municipal Registrar (CMR) Certification

The Certified Municipal Registrar certification and continued education program is offered by the New Jersey Office of Vital Statistics to provide up-to-date and in-depth trainings for topics of interest to the municipal vital statistics employees of our state. CMR certification is earned upon completion of the Initial CMR trainings, which consist of 10 on-demand videos and quizzes, an on-demand final exam, and the payment of a $30 certification fee. The Initial CMR program empowers learners with the foundation needed to perform vital statistics duties effectively. Once CMR certified, learners will have access to a catalog of continued education courses. These recertification classes can be web-based videos, in-person lectures, or live webinars. CMR certification is valid for 3 years. Certification can be renewed for another three years for learners who have obtained 18 recertification credits during their 3-year certification cycle and have paid the $30 certification fee. All CMR-related courses and content are available on the CMR Learning Management System.

The CMR Learning Managment System (LMS)

The CMR Learning Management System (LMS) is a comprehensive online repository for CMR learning materials and registrar credits. The CMR LMS is home to the complete catalog of CMR courses.  The LMS is also a self-service user platform that allows CMR learners to explore and register for course credit opportunities independently, as well as monitor their own recertification credits and status. For more information about the LMS, we suggest all new learners watch the three-part video training available on the OVSR Systems Training Video Channel before signing-up or logging in for the first time.
