NOTE: Pursuant to NJ DOH and CDS communique “COVID-19 Facility Outbreak Reporting Survey Updates” Dated: October 11, 2022: Beginning on 10/17/2022, updates to the definition of ‘Expired’ were changed. The new definition of ‘Expired’ states the total number of residents who have tested positive for COVID-19 with a COVID-19 cause of death on their death certificate or died of any cause within 30 days of a positive specimen collection. As per this directive, facilities experiencing outbreaks should review their current outbreak line list to ensure these definitions can be applied to outbreak-associated cases. As facilities with active outbreaks review and, in some situations, reclassify these cases, the total number of deaths associated with COVID-19 outbreaks in post-acute care facilities may change. The new definition will only be applied to outbreaks that are active as of 10/17/2022; counts for outbreaks that have concluded prior to 10/17/2022 will not change.
