831st Judge Advocate General Detachment
Mission Statement
The 831st Judge Advocate General Detachment provides legal defense to Soldiers in the New Jersey Army National Guard (NJARNG) who are facing adverse administrative actions, at no cost to the Soldier.
The 831st Judge Advocate General Detachment is affiliated with the Army National Guard Trial Defense Services and operates independently from the NJARNG chain of command.
All communications between Soldiers and defense attorneys are privileged and confidential and may not be used against a Soldier during adverse administrative proceedings.
Scope of Representation
The 831st Judge Advocate General Detachment offers a variety of defense oriented legal services to include the following:
- Representation of Soldiers who have been notified of administrative separation, AGR termination and/or other adverse administrative actions taken pursuant to military regulations;
- Representation of Soldiers at administrative separation boards and;
- Advise Soldiers during investigations (AR 15-6, CID, or Commander’s Inquiry).
The 831st Judge Advocate General Detachment does not represent Soldiers in civilian court.
