Safety Programs Management

The Office of Safety Programs Management oversees the New Jersey Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) and associated initiatives. The Office ensures compliance with federal reporting requirements and provides the technical backbone for implementing safety strategies statewide.

Responsibilities include:

  • Compiling and submitting HSIP reports to FHWA
  • Developing and updating the NJ Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP)
  • Providing technical guidance and support for HSIP-funded projects
  • Creating Problem Statements for high-risk locations
  • Managing HSIP-funded safety planning contracts
  • Developing and maintaining Safety Management System
  • Leading Data-Driven Safety Analyses (DDSA)
  • Supporting crash data review and analysis
  • Serving as safety subject matter experts on NJDOT capital projects
