Winter Operations Support Team (WOST)

The New Jersey Department of Transportation's (NJDOT) Winter Operations Support Team (WOST) program supplements staff in performing winter operations. Maintaining the roadways and DOT facilities during winter storms for safe travel can demand around-the-clock coverage that could continue for many days. With this intense requirement, it is necessary for additional staffing levels during winter storms.

New Jersey State employees, including those from non-Operations DOT, other state agencies, retirees, and non-employees, are encouraged to become members of the WOST program. IMPORTANT! Active State employees need agency/department and management authorization prior to their commitment to the program.

Join Our Road Maintenance Team

Join one of the 66 maintenance crews around the State. Positions available as Truck Driver or Operations Representative.

  • Truck Driver: Requires CDL Class B with no Air Brake Restriction.
  • Snow Representative: Oversee plowing and spreading contracts.

Work at one of eight property locations maintained by the DOT.

  • Snow Removal Assistance: Help with manual labor tasks such as shoveling and clearing walkways.
  • Equipment-Assisted Labor: Operate and assist with machinery for salt spreading and snow removal.
