[SRRA]: Analytical Technical Guidance

The Department would like to announce the availability of the following four Technical Guidance documents:

  1. Analytical Laboratory Data Generation, Assessment and usability Technical Guidance;
  2. Quality Assurance Project Plan Technical Guidance;
  3. Data of Known Quality Protocols Technical Guidance; and
  4. Data Quality Assessment and Data Usability Evaluation Technical Guidance

Analytical data are used extensively in environmental investigations and remedial activities. In order to effectively interpret analytical data, it is imperative to understand the quality and usability of the data. The above Technical Guidances were developed to achieve this goal. Everyone who utilizes data to make environmental decisions will benefit from being familiar with the principles contained in these documents. This includes LSRPs who are responsible for reviewing/certifying data and project managers/environmental professionals who develop/implement remedial activities.

These Technical Guidances were developed with stakeholder input by the NJDEP Analytical Technical Guidance Committee. Greg Toffoli (DEP/ODQ) is the Chairperson of this Committee and Committee Members include NJDEP staff and outside stakeholders. The Department would like to thank this Committee for their time and effort in developing this guidance. The documents are available for viewing and downloading on the SRP's Guidance Library Web page at
