Speed Limits for State Roads


Route US 206

(a)

The rate of speed designated for the certain parts of State Highway Route US 206 described in this subsection are hereby established and adopted as the maximum legal rate of speed:

1.

In Atlantic County:

i. In the Town of Hammonton:

For both directions of traffic:

(A) Zone 1: 50 MPH between Route US 30 and the Town of Hammonton - Shamong Township corporate line (approximate mileposts 0.00 to 6.28); thence

i. In the Township of Shamong:

(C) Zone 3: 50 MPH between the northernmost intersection of Route US 130-Route US 206 and the Bordentown Township – Hamilton Township corporate line (northerly end of the bridge over Crosswicks Creek) (approximate mileposts 36.27 to 38.46); thence

iii. Township of Lawrence:

For the southbound direction of traffic:

(A) Zone 1: 25 MPH between the southernmost City of Trenton – Lawrence Township corporate line (New Jersey Department of Transportation – City of Trenton jurisdictional line) (Spruce Street) and the northernmost City of Trenton – Lawrence Township corporate line (traffic circle at Route US 1 Business) (approximate mileposts 44.50 to 45.01); thence

For both directions of traffic:

(A) Zone 1: 30 MPH between the northernmost City of Trenton – Lawrence Township corporate line (traffic circle at Route US 1 Business) and Princeton Pike (County Route 583) (approximate mileposts 45.01 to 45.36); thence

(B) Zone 2: 40 MPH between Princeton Pike (County Route 583) and Brearley Avenue, except for 30 MPH when passing through the Notre Dame High School zone (approximate mileposts 45.35 to 46.08); thence

(C) Zone 3: 35 MPH between Brearley Avenue and Skillman Avenue, except for 25 MPH when passing through the Eldridge Park School zone and Saint Ann’s Catholic School zone during recess when the presence of children is clearly visible from the roadway, or while children are going to or leaving school, during opening or closing hours (approximate mileposts 46.08 to 47.32); thence

(D) Zone 4: 40 MPH between Skillman Avenue and 140 feet south of Titus Avenue (approximate mileposts 47.32 to 48.67); thence

(C) Zone 3: 35 MPH between Quaker Road (County Route 533) and the southernmost Princeton Township - Princeton Borough corporate line (Lovers Lane) (approximate mileposts 52.55 to 53.31); thence

(D) Zone 4: 30 MPH between the northernmost Princeton Borough - Princeton Township corporate line (Leigh Avenue) and Mountain Avenue (approximate mileposts 54.47 to 54.69); thence

(E) Zone 5: 35 MPH between Mountain Avenue and 700 feet north of Ewing Street (approximate mileposts 54.69 to 55.90); thence

(F) Zone 6: 40 MPH between 700 feet north of Ewing Street and the Princeton Township - Montgomery Township corporate line (Cherry Valley Road) (approximate mileposts 55.90 to 57.23); thence

v. In the Borough of Princeton:

For both directions of traffic:

(A) Zone 1: 35 MPH between the southernmost Princeton Township - Princeton Borough corporate line (Lovers Lane) and Elm Road (County Route 604) (approximate mileposts 53.31 to 53.39); thence

(B) Zone 2: 30 MPH between Elm Road (County Route 604) and Route NJ 27 (Nassau Street) (approximate mileposts 53.39 to 53.95); thence

(C) Zone 3: 25 MPH between Route NJ 27 (Nassau Street) and Cleveland Lane (approximate mileposts 53.95 to 54.28); thence

(D) Zone 4: 30 MPH between Cleveland Lane and the northernmost Princeton Borough - Princeton Township corporate line (Leigh Avenue) (approximate mileposts 54.28 to 54.47); thence

(D) Zone 4: 45 MPH between 240 feet south of Rutland Road and 1,175 feet north of Harlingen Road (approximate mileposts 60.94 to 61.55); thence

(E) Zone 5: 50 MPH between 1,175 feet north of Harlingen Road and 100 feet south of Township Line Road (approximate mileposts 61.55 to 62.61); thence

(F) Zone 6: 40 MPH between 100 feet south of Township Line Road and the Montgomery Township - Hillsborough Township corporate line (approximately mileposts 62.61 to 63.06); thence

ii. In the Township of Hillsborough:

For both directions of traffic:

(A) Zone 1: 45 MPH between the Montgomery Township - Hillsborough Township corporate line and Raider Boulevard (approximate mileposts 63.06 to 64.81); thence

iii. In the Borough of Somerville:

(A) Zone 1: 50 MPH between the Hillsborough Township - Somerville Borough corporate line and Orlando Drive (approximate mileposts 69.77 to 70.60); thence

(B) Zone 2: 40 MPH between Orlando Drive and Somerville Borough - Raritan Borough corporate line (approximate mileposts 70.60 to 70.71); thence

iv. In the Borough of Raritan:

For both directions of traffic:

(A) Zone 1: 40 MPH between the Somerville Borough-Raritan Borough corporate line and the northernmost Raritan Borough – Somerville Borough corporate line (Route US 202-Route US 206-Route NJ 28 traffic circle) (approximate mileposts 70.71 to 71.64); thence

v. In the Township of Bedminster:

(A) Zone 1: 50 MPH between the end of coincidence with Route US 202 and Lamington Road (County Route 523) (approximate mileposts 78.32 to 78.93, using Route US 206 mileposts; thence

(B) Zone 2: 45 MPH between Lamington Road (County Route 523) and 1,100 feet north of Ski Hill Drive (approximate mileposts 78.93 to 80.20); thence

(C) Zone 3: 50 MPH between 1,100 feet north of Ski Hill Drive and the southernmost Bedminster Township - Peapack-Gladstone Borough corporate line (approximate mileposts 80.20 to 80.22); thence

(D) Zone 4: 50 MPH between the northernmost Peapack-Gladstone Borough – Bedminster Township corporate line and the Bedminster Township – Chester Township corporate line (approximate mileposts 82.30 to 83.14); thence

vi. In the Borough of Peapack-Gladstone:

(1)

For both directions of traffic:

(A) Zone 1: 50 MPH between the southernmost Peapack-Gladstone Borough – Bedminster Township corporate line and the northernmost Peapack-Gladstone Borough – Bedminster Township corporate line (approximate mileposts 80.22 to 82.30); thence

(C) Zone 3: 50 MPH between the northernmost Chester Borough - Chester Township corporate line and the Chester Township - Mount Olive Township corporate line (approximate mileposts 87.86 to 89.52); thence

ii. In the Borough of Chester:

For both directions of traffic:

(A) Zone 1: 40 MPH between the southernmost Chester Township - Chester Borough corporate line and Maple Avenue (approximate mileposts 86.75 to 86.97); thence

(B) Zone 2: 35 MPH between Maple Avenue and 750 feet north of Main Street (County Route 513) (approximate mileposts 86.97 to 87.28); thence

(C) Zone 3: 40 MPH between 750 feet north of Main Street (County Route 513) and 350 feet south of Melville Place (approximate milepost 87.28 to 87.41); thence

x. In the Township of Montague:

(A) Zone 1: 50 MPH between the Sandyston Township – Montague Township corporate line and 1,600 feet south of the center line of Clove Road(approximate mileposts 127.41 to 128.24); thence

(B) Zone 2: 40 MPH between 1,600 feet south of the center line of Clove Road and the New Jersey Department of Transportation – Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission jurisdictional line, except a 25 MPH School Speed Limit within the Montague Elementary School Zone during recess when children are going to or leaving school during opening or closing hours (approximate mileposts 128.24 to 129.38).
