The CRC is not accepting applications for Alternative Treatment Centers at this time.
Currently operating ATCs will not be required to submit a full application to start participating in the recreational cannabis space. Companies will need to notify the CRC of the company’s intent and prove that they have adequate supply for to meet the reasonably anticipated needs of medicinal cannabis patients. They will also need to get approval from the municipalities where they are located.

This page has been updated to include new materials related to the 2019 RFA dispensary permit awards. Any applicant for a dispensary permit with questions regarding the 2019 RFA process and methodology, and any unsuccessful applicant for a dispensary permit that wishes to file a grievance with the Commission, may do so by submitting their question or grievance in writing to crc.licensing@crc.nj.gov by 5pm ET on Wednesday, December 15, 2021*. The Commission responded to relevant questions and grievances submitted prior to Friday, January 14, 2022.
The Commission held a formal debriefing period for vertically integrated and cultivation applicants in the 2019 RFA for cultivation and vertically integrated permits. The debriefing was extended by three days and concluded on October 22, 2021.

On May 24, 2022 the Commission voted to waive the requirement for 2019 RFA awardees to operate exclusively in the medicinal cannabis market for one year prior to applying to extend into adult use cannabis sales. The full language of the waiver is available here.

The 2018 RFA period was open from July 16 to August 31, 2018.
The entities listed below received initial approval from the Department of Health for their applications to operate an alternative treatment center.
An approved application does not comprise a license, permit or other approval to open and operate an alternative treatment center. Permission to operate is granted to successful applicants only after DOH completes a series of reviews and inspections of their facilities, procedures and products.
Before receiving approval to grow medical marijuana, the chosen applicants now must pass background checks, provide evidence of a dispensary location and municipal approval, and comply with all regulations under the Division of Medical Marijuana, including safety and security requirements.
