Solution Based Casework (SBC)
Solution Based Casework, or SBC, is an evidence-based, family-centered model in use by the NJ Department of Children and Families. When child welfare or child protection calls come in to the child abuse hotline (State Central Registry), investigators are dispatched to visit families and to determine levels of risk to the child. Complex family issues require a customized approach. Solution Based Casework helps workers get to the root of the issues impacting families. Often, it’s the stress of poverty or lack of childcare, unstable housing or unresolved trauma. Solution Based Casework helps the family and caseworkers to organize, prioritize and document the steps they will take to help re/build safe, healthy and connected families.
