2020 Food Waste Prevention Day Webinar

Join the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and the Association of New Jersey Recyclers to celebrate Food Waste Prevention Day on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at an educational webinar on food waste in the environment from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. This is a free event!

The environmental and social impacts of food waste, as well as strategies to reduce, reuse, and recycle food waste will be discussed by a panel of experts. Learn food waste reduction tips, food donation strategies, backyard composting methods, and discover a new food waste recycling technology.

The panel will feature the following experts:

  • Steven Rinaldi, NJDEP, Bureau of Sustainability, will provide an overview of the food waste issue.
  • Emily DeMaio, NJDEP, Bureau of Sustainability, will provide tips individuals can use to reduce food waste generation at home.
  • Coryanne Mansell, Center for Ecotechnology (CET), will discuss food donation strategies.
  • Margaret Pickoff, Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Mercer County, will discuss backyard composting.
  • Arielle Bernard, Waste Management of New Jersey, Inc., will discuss recycling technology that turns food waste into green energy.
  • A Q&A session will be held following the presentations.
