SITE BACKGROUND INFORMATION & ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES

The site is currently owned by South Jersey Port Corporation and is used for warehousing and storage. This case is in Post-NFA monitoring. The Deed Notice was filed on January 12, 1999 and the site is currently in the Department’s Deed Notice Inspection Program. Deed Notice inspections were performed on September 28, 1999 and March 14, 2001 and the site was found to be in compliance. Soil contamination consists of historic fill. The existing building and paved parking area acts as an engineering control.

A Classification Exception Area (CEA) was also established on January 22, 1999 for lead contamination in ground water at the site. Tetrachloroethene from an unknown source was also detected in the ground water.
