Purpose: The goal of the Blended Early Learning Innovation Pilot Year 1 of 2 Grant is to provide school districts with the ability to design and pilot innovative early learning tablet based instructional models based on the goal of improving children's mastery of literacy and mathematics skills in grades K-3. Eligible applicants will be selected through a competitive process in Year 1 and are LEAs with schools serving grades K-3. A LEA may submit an application on behalf of 2-3 of their eligible schools. Funding for this program is from the federal Early Childhood Race to the Top award. LEAs may apply for up to $75,000 in Year 1. The population served by this grant program consists of students in kindergarten through grade 3. This grant award is the first year of a two-year program. Year 1 of 2 is a twelve month grant period and will start September 1, 2015, and end August 31, 2016.
