Purpose: It is the intent of the McKinney-Vento Education of Homeless Children and Youth program to ensure that homeless children and youth have equal access to a free, appropriate public education, and to be able to enroll in, and attend school. The Stewart B. McKinney-Vento grant program funds are to provide supplemental support services for homeless children and youth designed to assure their school success. The New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) has established a three-year grant program which focuses on the provision of instructional services that are supplemental to the regular school program and on referral services to appropriate community-based organizations with the goal of enabling all homeless children and youth to meet challenging state content and student performance standards. This grant program is open to the 4 LEAs who were selected through a competitive process in Year 1 LEAs Projects will serve coordinate and provide educational programs and services for homeless children and youth residing in the partnership�s project area. Based on the availability of federal resources, this second year of the three year grant program will begin July 1, 2017 and will end on June 30, 2018.
