Purpose: The Minority Teacher Recruitment grant is a 100 percent FY20 state funded initiative. It is intended to identify effective programs and strategies that school districts, educator preparation programs and supporting organizations may employ to increase the number of minority teachers in New Jersey schools. Grantees will identify, substantiate and document effective programs, strategies and resources to increase the placement, support and retention of minority teachers, with direct coaching and supports provided to teachers in partnering high poverty school district(s). This grant program is open to organizations that can provide evidence of successful implementation of programs that recruit, train and place minority candidates in high needs school district that applies in a partnership that includes a high poverty school district. This is a 15.5 month program. The project period is March 15, 2020-June 30, 2021. Applicants may apply for up to $375,000.
Eligible Agencies: Organizations with evidence of successful implementation of programs that recruit, train and place minority candidates in high needs school district.
