Purpose:

The Teacher Development grant program is intended to support eligible institutions of higher education (IHEs) that recruit and support new teachers in one or more high poverty school districts in the State as defined in section 3 of P.L. 2007, c.260 (C 18A: 7F-45). Recipients will identify, substantiate and document effective programs, strategies and resources to increase the recruitment and support of new teachers, with special emphasis on minority teachers. IHEs must also provide evidence of successful implementation of programs that recruit and support new teachers in high poverty school districts, with special emphasis on minority teachers.

The New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) has established a twelve (12) month grant program. This limited-competitive grant program is open to IHEs in the State of New Jersey with an approved educator preparation program (EPP).

Based on the availability of FY25 state appropriations, this grant program will begin June 1, 2025, and will end on May 31, 2026. Applicants may apply for up to $375,000.
