Purpose:
The New Jersey Teacher Apprenticeship Program is in response to Governor Phil Murphy’s Executive Order No. 309 from 2022, which established the Task Force on Public School Staff Shortages in New Jersey. This task force was directed to develop short and long-term recommendations to increase the quantity of K-12 school staff – including teachers and support staff – in the state.
The purpose of this grant program is to establish new USDOL-approved registered teacher apprenticeship programs while offsetting the costs associated with tuition assistance and/or on the job training.
The New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) has established a twelve-month grant program.
Based on the availability of funding provided under a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) from the New Jersey Department of Labor, this 12-month grant program will begin November 1, 2024, and will end on October 31, 2025.
