LEARning about Literacy
In alignment with P.L. 2024, c.52, the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) has launched the LEARning about Literacy: Professional Learning Community (PLC) Series to support high-quality, evidence-based literacy instruction from preschool through grade six. This professional learning series is designed to build a shared, statewide foundation of evidence-based literacy practices that support instruction from preschool through grade six. The goal is to ensure that literacy screening data is not only collected, but also used meaningfully to inform instruction, address student needs, and drive system-level change. Below are eight PLC Sessions intended for 40-minute in-person meetings that include facilitator guides, discussion prompts, and classroom application activities. For the 2025-2026 school year, the training aligns with the two-hour dyslexia training requirements. Asynchronous educator training modules and materials for administrative training will be released with the launch of our learning management system.
