Educator Equity

Excellent Educators for All Initiative

The U.S. Department of Education announced the launch of the Excellent Educators for All Initiative to help states and school districts make a "commitment to ensuring every student in every public school has equal access to great educators who set and maintain high expectations for every student." As part of this initiative, states received this letter from Education Secretary Duncan requiring an update to equity plans required by Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act and first created in 2006. The Department is in the process of updating the equity plan and will post more information as it becomes available.

Existing Plans

Note: the 2009 version of the state's equity plan is in effect until the 2015 update process is complete.

The School Performance Reports reflect the New Jersey Department of Education's commitment to providing parents, students and school communities with a large variety of information about each school and district. These reports can be used as a tool to help evaluate whether all students have equitable access to high-quality education. We encourage you to use these reports to learn more, start conversations, and engage.
