HIV Training and Capacity Program
To support the development of a competent workforce with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide culturally responsive and appropriate services, the Department has partnered with Jefferson Health and the Northeast/Caribbean AIDS Education and Training Center to create the HIV Training and Capacity Development Program (TACD) as part of the HIV Community Support and Development Initiative. The mission of the TACD Program is to develop and implement a comprehensive training program to support ending the HIV epidemic in New Jersey.

The New Jersey HIV Planning Group
New Jersey HIV Planning Group (NJHPG) supports the Department in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of HIV prevention, care, and treatment services and integrates the HIV Prevention and HIV Care & Treatment communities to make the best use of resources for both, while improving efficiency and effectiveness in planning in the state of New Jersey. The mission of NJHPG is to provide community-generated, data-informed recommendations for responding to the HIV epidemic. The primary objective is to engage partners from all disciplines of expertise and experience to inform and support the State’s Integrated HIV Prevention and Care Plan.
Available to members of NJHPG is a platform known as Basecamp, to share resources, plan projects and promote collaboration.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Capacity Building Assistance
Capacity building assistance (CBA) is a process for equipping the nation’s HIV prevention workforce—including staff at state and local health departments, community-based organizations (CBOs), and health care organizations—through training, technical assistance, and other resources to reduce HIV infection and improve health outcomes for people with HIV in the United States. The CDC supports a CBA Provider Network (CPN) to deliver:
- national training;
- regional technical assistance;
- continuous quality improvement and sustainability for CBOs; and
- marketing and administrative support for the CPN.
These free (not for fee) CBA services and resources are available for CDC-funded health departments, CBOs, and their local partners seeking to optimally plan, integrate, implement, and sustain comprehensive HIV prevention program and services.
