Manual of Best Practices for
Transit-Oriented Development

The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT), along with
NJ TRANSIT, assembled a collection of zoning language and design guidelines that promote pedestrian-friendly and transit-oriented development (TOD) and created a Manual of Best Practices for Transit-Oriented Development. This manual is intended as a resource for any municipality that wants to become a Transit Village or wants to enrich the pedestrian/transit experience. The examples in this manual are not mandatory standards but are meant to be adapted to fit the specific goals of any community.
