Marian Abdou was appointed by Governor Murphy as a Commissioner of the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities and confirmed by the New Jersey Senate in May 2023.


Prior to her nomination, she served as managing senior counsel at NRG Energy where she provided legal support to the asset management group, the energy services group, and the business development group.


Previous to that role, Commissioner Abdou was an in-house attorney at two other energy companies and was in private practice at three law firms.


Commissioner Abdou earned her bachelor degree, MBA and juris doctor from Rutgers University.


She has been admitted to the bar for New Jersey and New York.
