There is a complete section on the website about Intergovernmental Services.
I am a permanent Civil Service employee in a small local jurisdiction. I would like to continue my Civil Service career, but there is no room for advancement here without changing my specialty. What can I do?
Consider CSC's Intergovernmental Transfer Program. You may be able to find a vacancy in either a larger local government jurisdiction or a State Government agency that you can move to without losing your Civil Service status. You will need your current employer's permission to complete the transfer.
For more information, contact the Intergovernmental Transfer Program at igs.support@csc.nj.gov.
What forms are required to post an Intergovernmental Transfer Program Job Vacancy to the Civil Service Commission?
To post a job vacancy to the Intergovernmental Transfer Program you will need to submit a DPF-722 Appointing Authority Position Vacancy Request [pdf].
Where do I find information in Title 4A about the Intergovernmental Transfer Program?
Information about the Transfer Program is located in: Title 4A:4-7, Chapter 4 (Selection and Appointment), Subchapter 7 (Other Appointments or Employee Movements) Title 4A.
I would like to fill a position, but I would like to hire someone who already has permanent Civil Service status. How can I do that?
One way is to hire someone in your jurisdiction who already has permanent civil service status. Another way is to find someone who has civil service status working in another jurisdiction through CSC's Intergovernmental Transfer Program.
