The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was developed to prohibit employers from discriminating against, or harassing an employee because of his or her disability. Subsequent amendments to the act provide a stronger framework for employers to avoid discrimination against disabled individuals, and provide reasonable accommodations to potential and current employees. In this one-day course participants will gain insight into the nuances of the ADA and related disability laws. In addition, key information will be provided about how employers successfully implement the ADA in the workplace and effectively provide reasonable accommodations.

• Describe disability laws applicable to employees in New Jersey
• Define disabled individual under the ADA
• Identify prohibited disability practices in the workplace
• Describe reasonable accommodation
• Identify acceptable and unacceptable standards in providing reasonable accommodation
