The CSC’s Center for Learning and Improving Performance (CLIP) is pleased to offer the Statewide Defensive Driving Program (SDDP), in collaboration with the Department of the Treasury’s Division of Risk Management (DRM) and the State Accident Review Board (ARB).
This proactive online course and certificate program, provided by the National Safety Council, is available to all State employees who are required to operate State vehicles, motorized equipment, or their personal vehicles as part of their job duties on a regular or intermittent basis.
Course Description
The Defensive Driving Course is a comprehensive four (4) hour online defensive driving and driver improvement program that delivers real life driving situations through state-of-the-art technology using computer generated animation and adaptive interactivity. The course contains content and strategies that address the most critical driving challenges and offers State employees the highest level of interactivity through real life scenarios, gaming exercises, videos, and crash scenarios. This is all done in an engaging interactive learning environment where employees analyze real driving situations, spot driving hazards, and identify and execute the correct defense.
The course is divided into six (6) sessions with an introduction and post course test. It allows employees to successfully complete the session quiz challenge with appropriate feedback, before they can proceed to the next session. The bookmark feature allows employees to resume where they left off. Thus, the training may be completed over time if necessary.
