Ground Water Permit Information
- DuPont Withdrawing its Application for Permit-by-Rule

- Public Hearing on November 15th and Comment
Period Extended to November 30th
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP)
will hold a public hearing on Monday, Nov. 15 to accept comments
on changes DuPont is proposing for a permit it needs to operate
a treatment system it has been using for many years to treat
contaminated ground water at its Pompton Works site in Pompton
Lakes.
The hearing will begin at 7 p.m. at the Carnevale Center, 10
Lenox Avenue. A transcriber will record all comments made during
the hearing. NJDEP will consider all comments and respond to
those comments relative to the permit in a Responsiveness Document.
The NJDEP will accept written comments until Nov. 30. Comments
may be sent to: Frank Faranca, Case Manager, at 401 East State
Street, Trenton, NJ 08625-028.
In addition, the NJDEP's case management team will be available
from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. to answer questions about the permit application
as well as any other questions about cleanup progress.
- Earlier Notice and Additional Information
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has extended
the public comment period an additional sixty (60) calendar
days for comments on the permit renewal. If you have any technical
comments on the discharge, please submit them before October
22, 2010 in accordance with the Public Notice linked below.
As part of the permit renewal process, DuPont submitted a Ground
Water Remedial Action Work Plan Addendum which contains
their request for a Permit by Rule. An Explanation of the
Permit-by-Rule is also available below to help explain
