Purpose:

The intent of the FY26 Advanced Placement – International Baccalaureate Course Expansion grant program is to provide Local Education Agencies (LEAs) with the opportunity to train educators in Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) instruction, with the goal of expanding access to college-level coursework for historically underserved students.

As part of the application process, LEAs must submit plans demonstrating how AP/IB educator training and program expansion will achieve the following outcomes:

  1. Increasing the number of trained and credentialed educators.
  2. Expanding the number and variety of AP/IB course offerings.
  3. Strengthening student supports and communication to ensure successful participation.

The New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) has established a nineteen (19) month grant program. This limited-competitive grant program is open to New Jersey LEAs with at least one school that qualifies for the federal definition of a schoolwide Title I program in the current year.

Please note that LEAs that received funding under the FY2024 or FY2025 AP/IB Course Expansion Grants (NGO #24‑TE12‑G03 and NGO #25‑TE17‑G03) are not eligible to apply.

Based on the availability of FY26 state appropriations, this grant program will begin May 1, 2026, and will end on November 30, 2027. Applicants may apply for $50,000 or $75,000 based on student enrollment.
