Insulin Manufacturer Assistance Programs are programs offered by insulin manufacturers to help eligible patients access and afford prescribed insulin. These programs are designed to reduce financial barriers for people who are uninsured, underinsured, or experiencing high out-of-pocket medication costs.

Manufacturer assistance generally falls into three categories:

• Patient Assistance Programs (PAPs): Provide insulin at low or no cost to eligible patients who meet income, insurance, and other program requirements.
• Copay Savings Cards: Reduce out-of-pocket costs for eligible patients with commercial/private insurance.
• Cash-Pay/Affordability Programs: Allow eligible patients to purchase insulin at a reduced price, often without using insurance.

Eligibility, covered insulin products, savings amounts, and program requirements vary by manufacturer and may change over time.

• Must be a permanent, legal U.S. resident, with household income ≤ 400% of the federal poverty level.
• People with no insurance or who have Medicare Part D.
• Not enrolled in Medicaid, full Low-Income Subsidy (LIS, “Extra Help”) or VA benefits, or in select cases, if insurance does not cover the medication.
