Persons required to report
  • Physicians
  • Advanced practice nurses
  • Physicians Assistants
  • Person having control or supervision over a hospital/health care facility, correctional facility, school, summer camp, childcare center, preschool, or institution of higher education.
  • Laboratories (for specific guidelines for labs, please see NJAC 8:57-1.7  )
Reportable STDs
  • Chancroid (Haemophilus ducreyi)
  • Chlamydial Infections, sexually transmitted (Chlamydia trachomatis)
  • Chlamydial Infections, neonatal (Chlamydia trachomatis)
  • Gonorrhea (Neisseria gonorrhoeae)
  • Granuloma inguinale (Calymmatobacterium granulomatis)
  • Lymphogranuloma venereum (Chlamydia trachomatis)
  • Syphilis, primary and secondary (Treponema pallidum)

Expedited Partner Therapy (EPT)

N.J.S.A. 26:4-48.2 (the EPT statute), authorizes a health care professional to give patients diagnosed with an STD medication or prescriptions to give to their sex partners without conducting a medical evaluation of the patient’s sex partners. Please see the provider EOT FAQ sheet for more information about providing EPT in New Jersey.
