Local Freight Impact Fund FY2022 Announcement: Traffic Study Data Requirements Relaxed

Due to the changes in traffic resulting from COVID-19 lock downs, the Local Freight Impact Fund's requirement for timely traffic study data will be relaxed. Any traffic study supporting a FY 2022 Local Freight Impact Fund application is permitted to have data no older than January 1, 2016

FY 2022 Grant Solicitation – Safe Routes to School

The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) is pleased to announce that the application period is now open for our 2022 Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program. The deadline to apply is October 14, 2021. The NJDOT is offering free online training sessions providing participants with information about applying for the SRTS Program. Topics that will be covered in this online training include: Overview of Federal Aid programs and the Safe Routes to School Program; Detailed Review of the Safe Routes to School Grant Application; Grant Application Process; Grant Resources, Tips & Strategies; and Q&A with NJDOT Local Aid Staff. The session is designed to assist you with making your grant application stronger to turn your project into a reality. Dates, times and links to registration are below.

Lastly, the NJDOT will be offering One-on-One Application Meetings to provide direct assistance to applicants in developing better and stronger applications. These meetings will be held with a NJDOT District staff member and an MPO representative. Applicants requesting a meeting must be a representative of the Local Public Agency, NOT a consultant. One on One meetings are not a mandatory requirement to apply for funding. Meetings will be held from June 22, 2021 through September 17, 2021. More information on specific dates and how to sign up will be posted shortly on the NJDOT Local Aid Resource Center at: https://www.njdotlocalaidrc.com. Good luck!!

Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) International Roughness Index (IRI) Requirements

Local Aid paving projects on routes designated on the Interstate System and The National Highway System (NHS) must abide by national performance management measures for IRI and the requirements of the Special Provisions for State Aid Projects.

FY 2019 Special Provisions for State Aid Projects

The FY 2019 Special Provisions for State Aid Projects shall supersede and replace the 2011 Edition of the Special Provisions for State Aid Projects. All State Aid Projects from this point forward must use the FY2019 Special Provisions for State Aid Projects.
