James P. Klett, Fairgrown Farms Co-Owner

“I've been telling everyone that the cider pressing was the highlight of my career so far.”
-James Klett
James Klett, co-owner of Fairgrown Farm, is being recognized as our “Top Tomato” for his commitment to providing New Jersey schools locally grown and for his agricultural educational outreach.
Fairgrown Farms was founded in 2019 as a small direct-to-consumer vegetable farm. Today, Fairgrown has evolved into a food hub, partnering with over 40 farms across New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania. This growth has positioned Fairgrown as an "Ambassador" farm, creating a bridge between farmers and educational institutions.
A highlight of James’s work is his collaboration with school districts to enrich Farm to School education. By organizing in-school events like cider pressings and apple tastings, as well as on-site farm experiences such as field trips and workshops. Additionally, their partnerships with Maschio's and Pomptonian ensure that the Farm to School initiative extends to school cafeterias, providing students with fresh, locally sourced meals.
Fairgrown Farm's commitment to education extends beyond produce; they aim to become experts in building educational partnerships, allowing their partner farms to focus on farming while they navigate institutional collaborations. This dedication highlights their belief in the transformative power of Farm to School education, not just for students but for the entire community.
Fairgrown Farm's story is one of growth, community, and education, embodying the spirit of New Jersey's agricultural sector. For more information, visit fairgrownfarm.com and join them in celebrating the benefits of local produce.
