Sited on land that witnessed the 1777 Princeton Battle for American independence, is the stately home that is today the official residence of the Governor of New Jersey. Drumthwacket is one of the most fabled and elegant of America’s executive residences, and in its history lie the stories of three unique families that made immense contributions to New Jersey’s and America’s history. For more details and program information, visit the Drumthwacket Foundation website.
The Collection of paintings and objets d'art that are exhibited at Drumthwacket are largely works that were either created by a New Jersey artist or artisan, feature a New Jersey locale and/or portray a figure associated with the state's history. One of the prized pieces in the collection is Governor Charles Olden's carved mahogany secretary bookcase from which he wrote many official letters, including several to President Lincoln.
